It was as if all the factory tradesmen left for the evening after a usual day of work, never to be seen again. Tools, gloves, paperwork, even boots left awaiting their return were slowly being reclaimed by the elements in the long-abandoned factory I was exploring. The way the sunlight crept through a small window and illuminated this workbench seemed to breathe life and hope into these rusted old tools, and made me stop and wonder about all the decades they’ve rested there, and the hands that were the last to labor with them.
Long forgotten objects that have fallen victim to time hold such character and curiosity, a subject matter that enchants me. Experiencing, capturing and conveying this moment has brought this secluded scene out of the darkness and into people's hearts, and I am honored that "Tinker & Toil" has been awarded Third Place in the 16th Annual Photography Show!
